“We are thrilled to be together to celebrate our remarkable community,” said Dean Allyson Green. “Tonight is first and foremost about supporting and celebrating our brilliant students. Our hope is that our students depart Tisch as the next generation of arts leaders with all the tools, discipline, passion and knowledge to light up the world with their unique stories. Tonight, we are celebrating not one, not two, but three tremendous honorees who have done just that.”

“NYU Tisch was a pivotal turning point in my life,” said Ang Lee. “Once I got to NYU Tisch, I knew I was in the right place. It opened up the whole world to me. Those are the happiest years of my life. My whole career has been an extension of film school. I believe that learning and education are not just a way to get to your purpose, but they are the purpose of life itself. I want to thank Tisch for this award. It means a lot to me.”

“I found my voice as a songwriter at NYU Tisch,” said Madison Love. “This school opened me up to so many aspects of the music industry. I’m so blessed to have the career I have, and I know I would not have the success I’ve achieved today without this school. I’ve been able to thrive because of the preparation I received. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and beyond thrilled to be the first NYU Tisch Gala honoree from the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music on its 20th anniversary.”

“There’s a shared language and a shared set of values between NYU Tisch actors,” said Corey Stoll. “When I graduated, I joined a fellowship, a continually growing company spanning across the country and across generations. I found great lifelong friends like Maggie Siff, and I even found my wife, Nadia. I’ve already been given so much from this incredible place, so this honor is an embarrassment of riches.”

Actor Maggie Siff, Oscar and Emmy-nominated producer and editor Jean Tsien and Professor and Music Director at NYU Tisch Jeff Peretz were on hand to honor Lee, Stoll and Love. Record producer and founder of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU Tisch, Clive Davis, and Academy Award-winning director and Ang Lee’s former classmate, Spike Lee, joined via video message.

“As we celebrate the importance of arts education this evening, I’m grateful for all the connections I made at NYU as someone who would otherwise have no access to the film industry,” said Jean Tsien. “I’m honored to share my gratitude for a very special teacher mentor, friend and a cinematic genius who is also an important cultural ambassador, Ang Lee.”

“I’m so happy that my alma mater, NYU Tisch, is celebrating Ang Lee,” said Spike Lee. “We’re the brothers Lee. We’ve weathered the storm of this business. I’m so proud of him.”

“I can’t tell you how immensely proud I am of the successes Madison has achieved so early in her career,” said Clive Davis. “She’s an embodiment of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and an inspiration to the next generation that aims to follow in her footsteps. I know that the future of music is in good hands with Madison.”

“I have to say when we were at NYU together, Corey was already a star,” said Maggie Siff. “Corey taught us all a memorable lesson that if you’re brave and bold and hungry enough, you will be able to meet great roles. He’s curious, he’s open-eyed and he’s pushing the limits.”

The Gala brought together the NYU Tisch community to highlight the school’s immense impact on the arts and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of its alumni, mentors, teachers and friends. The evening’s entertainment featured a performance of “Hope” by Tisch Grad Acting students and performances by the c-Live Band of the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and the N’Harmonics, including a Madison Love live musical tribute.
