To kick off Miami Art Week, last night at The Faena Hotel, 29-year old landscape artist and creative director Lily Kwong unveiled her latest installation, entitled “MAISON ST-GERMAIN: Tree of Life” — a creative collaboration with St-Germain elderflower liqueur and The Faena Hotel.

In celebration of the 1,000 delicate elderflowers in every bottle of St-Germain, Lily — who was recently noted in Forbes’ 30 under 30 — revitalized The Faena Hotel’s iconic Clusia rosea tree, which suffered damage in the wake of Hurricane Irma’s devastation.

Studio Lily Kwong’s piece honors the longstanding role of trees as a universal symbol of physical & spiritual nourishment, transformation, liberation, union and fertility.

The installation channeled the joy of a thousand flowers to breathe new life into the symbolic sapling with exotic orchids and epiphytes that exemplify global culture, featuring plant species indigenous to South America, East Asia, Africa and beyond.

Honoring the sapling nightly this week (12/4–9 at 7:30PM), Faena Theater’s SENSATIA Cabaret will perform a ceremonial dance inspired by the cycle of life at the Sun Bar and Tree of Life. Each rhythmic twirl will forge a deeper connection between the audience and the tree, transmitting energy into its branches.

Like trees, the rainbows cast by the prisms are considered bridges that connect the heavens to the mortal, earthly realm in cultures ranging from the Mayas to the Japanese. As the tree continues to recover and generate new growth, Kwong’s installation will exalt the Faena’s Clusea rosea as aTree of Life, a timeless symbol of hope, healing and regeneration.

Honoring the Tree of Life nightly at 7:30PM from December 4th — 9th, Faena Theater’s SENSATIA Cabaret will perform a ceremonial dance inspired by the cycle of life. Each rhythmic turn will forge a deeper connection between the dancers and the tree, transmitting energy into its branches and into the audience.
